Frequently Asked Questions
Wireless Connections
That depends on where you live.
Our wireless connections are available in most locations within Whangarei.
These include most parts of the following locations: Tikipunga, Kamo, Otangarei, Kensington, Whangarei CBD, The Avenues, Riverside, Morningside, and Otaika.
If you are not in one of these locations and still want to connect, let us know and we will add you to our list of places to expand.
We endeavour to provide technical support for wireless clients as close to 24/7 as we can via email.
However sometimes it may take a couple of days to get back to you if we are busy or away from the office.
Our network is built on 802.11AC, this allows us to pump a lot of data through our network, far more than the old B, G, or N technologies.
However due to the nature of wireless connections (preferring unobstructed line of site) we need to do a site check to estimate the speeds you can get.
Contact us for more information or to book a free site check.
We charge $1 per Mb per second.
This is a speed based charge, not a data cap.
We only provide unlimited plans.
So for a 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload connection you would pay $10 a month with unlimited data.
We accept automatic payments. You can also deposit or transfer the funds manually if you wish.
Your first bill will have all the details including our bank account number, the amount you need to pay, and the date you need to pay it by.
If you have trouble paying the bill on time, please let us know before the due date, the more notice you give us, the better we can help you.
In all cases, returning the gear that is contracted to you is a must, and must be returned in working order and in good clean condition.
If you change your mind during a trial period, you will not have to pay a disconnection fee unless it has been arranged prior to installation.
If you change your mind during a contract period, then the contract will determine if you have to pay a disconnection fee, or a removal fee for the equipment.
If you change your mind after the contract has ended, then unless told otherwise, you should not have to pay a disconnection fee or removal fee unless this was noted on your account when you joined (and it would have been explained to you before you signed up).
If you would like a landline, you can use a VoIP provider.
There are VoIP providers in NZ that may be able to provide a landline that can be answered by an app on your smartphone.
You can also use a VoIP device that allows you to plug a standard telephone into the wireless connection.
Contact us if you would like help setting up a landline.
Virtual Servers
Yes! Of course. Regardless of if it’s a Virtual Machine, Container, or Dedicated Server
Your connection will be tunneled via our SSH tunnel server
We can assign up to 30 ports for you without extra charge, 10 TCP only, 10 TCP/UDP, and 10 UDP only
The port range starts at VID30 and ends at VID60 and is pre allocated when we setup your server if you tick the port forwarding checkbox during checkout
Alternatively you can send us an email from your registered email address and we can open those ports for you
We can also open a much smaller set of ports or even none at all (including SSH port VID22) if you wish
We limit the speed based on what you pay for during checkout
You should always be able to get at least the bandwidth you have selected during checkout
This speed can burst up to 950/500 (Mbps, down/up) depending on the server you are assigned
We try to keep an eye on speeds (you can install our speedtest service to keep us better informed)
If we detect you are not getting what you are paying for we will immediately try to solve the problem
We expect it to take no more than 2 week days (excluding public holidays) to complete, however if we fail to do this within 2 working days, every day is a free day until we solve it, and will be taken off your next bill
Non service (where the connection is down for more than 8 hours) are always free days and are taken off your next bill
Although we feel it is not your responsibility to “have to” keep an eye on the speeds your server is getting, if you do notice a slow down and think we may not know about it, please let us know, as we can only start repairing it and offering free time once we know about it
The costs are all listed on the store page
As they may change without warning, we try to keep them separate from our FAQ
If you are within New Zealand, we accept automatic payments. You can also deposit or transfer the funds manually if you wish.
We NEVER accept cheques!
We do NOT accept PayPal within New Zealand! (Please do not select this method if you live in New Zealand, as it will simply be processed as a refund when we go to setup your account)
If you live OUTSIDE New Zealand, we DO offer PayPal
Your first bill will have all the details including our bank account number, the amount you need to pay, and the date you need to pay it by.
If you have trouble paying the bill on time, please let us know before the due date, the more notice you give us, the better we can help you.
Send us an email, and we will try to process it as quickly as possible
Or close your account on the Proxmox GUI, and we will not generate the bill for the following month (you will still receive the bill for the current month when it is ready)
Your last month ends at the end of the month your email was received or the month you close the account manually on the Proxmox GUI (you will be sent a confirmation email when we get your email)
If you close your account by sending us an Email, you will have 30 days to “change your mind” if you wish to resume service, during this time your account will only be disabled (this is NOT true if you close the account manually)
After the 30 days your data will be removed
Your account will remain, however you may choose to close this manually yourself if you wish
If you would like to host a website direct from your Virtual Machine, go for it
Just add $1 for each domain you wish to host on your server, and the domain names, and we will set up a reverse proxy to your machine
This does not include the domain registration, as we do not provide domain registration at this time
